About
August 18, 2010 I set out on an adventure in the Philippines with the United States Peace Corps. I am assigned to English education and work at a large public high school on the island of Cebu. My projects include teaching English, HIV/AIDS education and coastal environmental education.
This blog explores the culinary adventures in my Peace Corps kitchen as well as my Philippine gastronomic education. Realistically, however, it’s a place for me to complain about how much I miss cheese.
If you have questions about the Peace Corps or the things I put in my belly, you are welcome to contact me.

Hey Lady. Not sure how you dug up our other batch 269′ers for your blogroll other than people doing this, or you doing enough peacecorpsjournal clicking to develop a serious blister or two. Thought I’d throw my page your way! Good luck with the rest of your preparations. See you in the islands
Hi Mark! I found all the blogs through the Batch 269 Facebook page. I noticed your a member, but in case someone reads this who isn’t….

I started a discussion for people to post links to their blogs. I’ve added yours to my running list, thanks for letting me know about it. See you on “the day of reckoning”!
Hello there. My wife and I just got recommended by our recruiter to serve in Asia in the English language area, too. I was recommended for the English Teacher training program and she was recommended for the Eng. teacher position. We have a long ways to go, though still. The program starts june 2011. I’ll be following you on here as much as I can. Good luck with your new adventure!!! Cheez-its are not out of the realm of possibility either.

Congrats on you and your wife’s recent nomination! That is very exciting. There is definitely a lot more ground to cover, but that is a big step to becoming volunteers. My only suggestion at this point is to not place to much weight on your nominated location. I was initially nominated for Africa, was first invited to Bulgaria and am now on my way to the Philippines, so a lot can change.
I appreciate you stopping by my blog and would be more than happy to answer any questions you guys have or get you to someone who can…and Cheez-its, you two are really after my heart.
Good luck with the next step in your application. It is exhaustive, sometimes exhausting, but ultimately worth it.
